Hadith are narrations concerning the words and deeds
of the Holy Prophet
Muhammad
صلى الله عليه وسلم , which are related to
us by the Sahaba
Ikram رضي الله عنه. Hadith are regarded by traditional Islamic schools of jurisprudence
as important tools for understanding the Qur'an and in matters of jurisprudence.
A Hadith consists of a body (the report) and the isnad(chain of reporters). It
can be qawli (re-porting the sayings of the Prophet صلى
الله عليه وسلم ), fiʿli (reporting his صلى الله
عليه وسلم deeds), or qudsi (reporting divinely inspired sayings)
